Engage in Active Research by pre-selling your idea to potential buyers. This data will impress investors and may open new opportunities to partner with brands who already have a customer base making investment unnecessary.

Get Out And Engage In Active Research

  • Look For People Who Are Using The Same Or A Similar Product Or Service

  • Look For People Who Are Using A Similar Product Or Service

  • Find People Who Would Agree To Sell This Product Or Service

Build Your First Prototype

After your active research, consider partnering with someone with the skills and tools necessary to produce a working prototype. For a service, this may be a case study or a portfolio piece.

Ideally, it's best to focus on selling what you believe you can actually deliver to the customer.

Keep A Notebook And Be Sure To Record:

  • Cost Of Materials Needed Per Unit Sold

  • Cost of Tools Needed To Make The Product

  • Hours Of Labor Needed Per Unit Sold

Troubleshooting

If you've made it this far, congrats! Now let's regroup! You may have five people doing a one man job or focusing too much on it being sexy than functioning properly.

Some areas may require slowing down, while others may require more speed. Listen, be patient, reflect, and make adjustments to achieve your goals.

Ask Yourself If a Are:

  • Raising Or Lowering Quality Unnecessarily

  2. How can I build trust and minimize risk for the customer?

Ask Yourself:

  1. Does my solution save or make my customer money? If so, how?
  2. How quickly can I solve the solution?

Ask Yourself:

  1. How far can I take this product?
  2. What's the most daring, challenging, and risky environments that this product or service can endure? 
  3. What is the best way to use my product?
  4. What is the most perfect scenario to use my product?

Cares about the process and how it will impact his organization and help him beat his competitor.

Ask Yourself:

  1. Which mission, vision, and values are necessary to gain the greatest use of my product?
  2. Is my product or service going to make this organization more desirable to their consumer?
  3. What is the one feature of my product or service that will make the greatest impact on this company?
